THE TINDER TRICK

A quick guide to see who liked you first

On Tinder, some might have noticed, you are likely to get your matches in the first 10-20 cards when you haven’t swiped for a while, so you instinctively know to pay more attention to the first few. Like you, we don’t know the Tinder algorithm, but we noticed one fundamental and very important rule: those who like us get relative priority over the others. So let’s game the system and see WHO liked us BEFORE we swipe! You can do this from any place, but it is highly recommended that you do it while at home, or the main place you swipe from, so that you won’t have to clear new areas all the time. This obviously works a bit differently if you are in a highly populated area like the centre of Manhattan or if you are travelling: act accordingly. Also please note that it doesn’t “create” matches, it just singles them out in case certain specific conditions are met. But before we go into specifics, a little word of advice, in case you are not a paying user:

MEN:

GO EASY, THE LIMIT IS 120 RIGHT SWIPES !

WOMEN:

JUST ACT AS USUAL, DON’T WORRY AT ALL !

HOW TO SEE WHO LIKED YOU FIRST:

CLEAR THE FIELD

FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO “CLEAR” YOUR FIRST MILE BY DISLIKING AND OR LIKING EVERYONE THERE. SET YOUR MAX DISTANCE TO 1 AND SWIPE AWAY UNTIL YOU SEE THE “NO ONE NEW AROUND YOU” MESSAGE

THE WAITING GAME

WHEN YOU DO, KILL THE APP AND RESTART A FEW TIMES: THERE MIGHT BE MORE. ONCE THE AREA IS CLEAR, JUST WAIT. IT MIGHT TAKE A FEW MINUTES OR A FEW DAYS ,DEPENDING ON YOUR SEX

REAP YOUR REWARDS

NEXT TIME YOU START TINDER YOU WILL POSSIBLY SEE SOMEONE IN YOUR DECK. CHECK THEIR DISTANCE: IF IT IS GREATER THAN 1 MILE, THAT PERSON LIKED YOU, SO A RIGHT SWIPE WILL RESULT IN A SURE MATCH

MATCHES INCREASE

100%

THE SECRET

WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE OUT OF YOUR MILE RANGE IN THE STACK, THEY ARE POSSIBLE* MATCHES.THE LOWER THE MILE RANGE WHEN YOU CHECK** THE EASIER IT IS TO SINGLE OUT PEOPLE WHO LIKED YOU

*    They could also be paying users travelling
**  Lower it to 1 when you first check and then set it back to what you wish once done.

A FEW NOTES:

If the user distance is 1 mile, they might have liked you. But you will have to swipe right to find out at your peril: more likely they are just “new” users in your area. A new user might be anyone you haven’t liked/disliked before (even if every now and then you see someone twice, but it is rare): be it someone checking Tinder while passing by on a bus or a new user, who just created an account or checked his/hers after a week or more of inactivity. Unless you live in a highly populated area, you won’t see too many though. To fully exploit the trick, always turn your miles to 1 before exiting the app. It makes it easier to see matches almost straightaway (this should work great for girls. As for the guys… those shirtless selfies are nowhere as popular as you thought!)

And there you have it, Tinder now behaves like Bumble (that is, assuming you like everyone on Bumble, automatically getting matches with every single one who liked you, but without the hassle): even better, you can know who liked you before you like them back. But why would it make such a difference, granted that we didn’t discover anything or attracted any more potential suitors than what we would have otherwise? In our own experience we found out that our personal daily matches averages simply doubled. Why so? Well, for the simple reason that knowing that someone likes you before judging them makes you much more likely to see their perks rather than their flaws. You don’t believe us? Try it out… And just in case, you are welcome!
